What was the punishment of a drunkard prescribed by the Prophet peace be upon him ?

for many years drinking was allowed, only after mohammad's gang grew in number did some become unruly did mohammad have to band it. i remember the story of a gang of men getting drunk after a raid on a village and killing the favorite camel of one of mohammad's gang and eating it's hump and after mohammad was told about it mohammad was afraid to say anything to them because they were drunk. look it up it is a real funny hadith.
