Why would a company try to trick me onto their website.?

They want to make a fast buck, which they earn by the end-user visiting, whether it is accidental or not. When a person clicks on a website with advertising, the owner of the site who has the ad on that clicked site gets paid every time it is loaded onto a computer screen like yours. If there are not enough views, the advertiser moves on elsewhere, and the site loses funding.
